This market will resolve to “Yes” if ByteDance announces their intention to sell TikTok by March 31, 2025, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise this market will resolve to “No”. A public announcement of the intention to sell TikTok will qualify even if a sale has not been finalized. This includes any formal declaration made by ByteDance or its authorized representatives regarding their plans to sell or transfer ownership of TikTok. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from ByteDance. However, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Someone should create a "TikTok sale announced in 2025" market.
REDDIT CO FOUNDER ALEXIS OHANIAN: I'M OFFICIALLY NOW ONE OF THE PEOPLE TRYING TO BUY TIKTOK US. [link removed]

As a Chinese person, half of TK's assets are Chinese enterprises. Even if he doesn't sell TK under pressure from the Chinese government, it's impossible. Businessmen pursue profits. If they sell TK, they will surely sell the algorithm. Then the American Internet company will copy his model and instantly take all the markets except China into account. So whether it's a company or a national government, the likelihood of TK being sold is always 0
News: President Donald Trump has tasked Vice President JD Vance and National Security Adviser with overseeing a potential sale of TikTok, according to multiple sources on Capitol Hill and the White House. Vance is in charge of "quarterbacking a deal to save TikTok," according to a source familiar with the matter. Waltz and the National Security Council are in charge of the national security aspect of any potential transaction.

did not change the fact that nobody on the Chinese side replied to any of those deals
The prices here are still very low. https://polymarket.com/event/tiktok-sale-announced-before-may/tiktok-sale-announced-before-may?tid=1738908085161
On CNN, didn’t someone from ByteDance said there would be some type sell?
What’s up with the huge drop then?
We still have all of February and all of March, that’s over 7 weeks. And the extension doesn’t go that much far after
Man I've been telling you ByteDance isn't gonna sell just cut your losses now
Aw man :/ hate to see you lose confidence
I’m always skeptical of the No side this far out. Unless it’s something insanely improbable, like US acquiring Greenland. There are so many opportunities for this to resolve to yes, but only one day for it to resolve to no.
Yeah there really hasn’t been any real news except this “china is slow rolling negotiations”. Feels like no one knows what’s going on
[link removed] as I said , there is no way tiktok will be sold / acquired.
this is a very bad sign, Trump just added 10% tariff to all Chinese product. and passed a few policies to restrict high-end chips export. why do you think China will allow it to be sold ?
if you really think this deal is gonna happen, I would suggest you to talk to some Chinese on Rednote probably to get what they really thought
buy no
keep in mind , not a single word mentioned China or bytedance, this is pure from the US side activity. [link removed]
all the so called "progress" are from US side. no news or reaction from bytedance. there is no way tiktok will be sold / acquired
right, this also make sense, I think the final decision will not just be based on price, maybe also on tariff thing, TaiWan stuff..
To be honest, as a Chinese, I want to say that if it was not Oracle or Microsoft, but the sovereign fund established by the US government that acquired TikTok, then the nature of the matter would be completely different. Chinese public opinion would criticize ByteDance badly. A company that has 50% of its operating income handed over to the US Treasury has no room for public opinion in China.
As a Chinese as well, in China public opinion does not really matter. If the government made the decision, the public opinion will just look like what they want. So many examples in history
I doubt whether Trump's stupid proposal means that TikTok was not consulted on the deal. ByteDance will never accept a 50% state-controlled company from the US sovereign fund. This is suicidal for ByteDance in China. This proposal will never be approved by ByteDance. It's insane.
The problem is that this is not a one-day thing. Even if the attitudes between the two governments are ambiguous now, who can guarantee that it will not get worse in the next four years? Imagine if there is friction between the two governments one day in the future, ByteDance will be criticized to death in China because 50% of its revenue in the United States is handed over to the U.S. Treasury. How could ByteDance take this risk? Do you think that the next four years between China and the United States will be a stable honeymoon period? This is impossible.
I agree, there is no way tiktok will be sold, let's wait for the ban in 75 days, oh it's only 60 days now
If it was Microsoft and Oracle, I think tiktok would be willing to negotiate. If it was Trump and his stupid sovereign fund holding 50%, as a Chinese I don't see any possibility of a sale.
I think you overestimate the importance of "public opinion" in China. PDD suffered much more serious criticism in aspects that ordinary people care about, but nothing happens at all. If the government wants, they can just claim they "WIN" in some sense, and most people don't care what really happens.
