Donald Trump announced a deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 8:00 PM ET (see: https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/06/world/middleeast/trump-threat-strait-peace.html). This market will resolve to “Yes” if Donald Trump officially announces that this deadline has been extended or will not be enforced by Tuesday April 7, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A qualifying announcement must explicitly state that the deadline has been extended or will not be enforced, including by providing a new deadline or through statements such as “the deadline has been moved back.” Broader statements, such as “we made good progress with Iran,” will qualify only if they are clearly and explicitly made in the context of an announcement that the deadline is being extended or not being enforced. If no qualifying announcement has been made by Tuesday, April 7, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “No”, regardless of whether the deadline is enforced. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements from Donald Trump, including on his official social media accounts. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used to verify a qualifying announcement.

Sorry No holders, you don't meet the IQ requirements for this website.
The strait has been confirmed to be hereby open by both sides. The deadline was enforced. A ceasefire is an entirely different matter.

polymarket can be such a scam at times
Dispute Submission for “Trump Announces Hormuz Deadline Extension Today” (Polymarket) Claim: This market should resolve NO. Explanation: Under the market’s own rules, a YES outcome requires that Donald Trump explicitly announce that the deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz has been extended or will not be enforced by April 7 2026, 11:59 PM ET. A qualifying announcement must clearly state that the deadline is extended or not enforced — for example by saying “the deadline has been moved back” or “the deadline will not be enforced.” Broader statements only qualify if they are explicitly made in the context of extending or not enforcing the deadline. The linked official statement from Donald Trump on Truth Social (April 7 2026) does not meet these criteria. Trump’s post announces a 2‑week suspension of bombing and attack of Iran, conditional on Iran agreeing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but it contains no language that the original deadline is being extended, moved, or not enforced. It refers to military action and negotiations, but never explicitly states a new deadline or that the existing deadline is not being enforced. This is the only type of announcement the market rules accept for a YES resolution. Conclusion: Because Trump did not make the required explicit announcement of extending or not enforcing the deadline, this market should resolve NO [link removed]
