This market will resolve to “Yes” if there are no active fires (<100% contained) over 10 acres in Los Angeles county in California at any point between January 8, and January 31, 2025, 11:59 PM PT (Pacific Time). Otherwise this market will resolve to “No.” The resolution source is official updates from https://www.fire.ca.gov/. However, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.

Eaton and Hughes will likely be 100% contained today, the only gamble is Palisades
Look at historic large scale incidents - they all stay at 99% for weeks

What makes this time different?
Look at all the previous incidents' history on the resolution source website. The containment always slows significantly towards the end. The Bridge Fire incident last year took 2 months to be classed 100% contain and no longer 'active'. So long as there are fire fighter personnel working on the incidents (even if they're supporting infrastructure recovery), this will still be classified as an active incident with containment under 100%. The rain will mean they put less effort, not more, into creating well defined firebreak lines (which drives the containment figure.
Counter argument in the last 2 weeks they have shut a bunch of fires super quick when it gets past 95%. Suck balls

Yeah those were 1k acres rather than 20k+. They're managed very differently and the time to be labelled "inactive" grows exponentially with size.
