On February 21, Brian Zhou confirmed Bybit was subject to a sophisticated hack. You can read more about that here: https://x.com/benbybit/status/1892963530422505586. This market will resolve to "Yes" if at least 50% of the ETH (as calculated by # of ETH tokens) exploited from Bybit is returned by February 28, 2025, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Bybit, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
Why return it?
forget it
If i put 100 and i get back 100? Seems like a steal
ask gah he is trying this same strategy he's super smart!!
lmao ur a cool guy, gah.
congrats gah you're a genius!! you won this time but just remember me when you make you're $45 massive win on this incredible bet
so gah is a fuckin' weirdo with a lot to lose. but here's my real opinion on this.. Estimating the exact percentage chance of Bybit recovering 50% of its hacked funds is difficult due to multiple unknown factors, but based on historical cases, recovery efforts, and challenges, a reasonable estimate might be 20-40%. Factors Supporting Higher Recovery (Towards 40%): Bounty Programs: Bybit is offering rewards for information leading to fund recovery. Exchange & Law Enforcement Cooperation: If Bybit works with global agencies, some funds may be frozen on exchanges. Precedent: Some hacks (like Bitfinex’s 2016 breach) have seen significant recovery over time. Factors Supporting Lower Recovery (Towards 20% or Less): Blockchain Irreversibility: If funds are already laundered through mixers or converted to fiat, recovery is nearly impossible. Potential State-Actor Involvement: If Lazarus Group is involved, they have sophisticated laundering methods. Time Sensitivity: The longer it takes, the harder it becomes to trace the funds. Since Bybit has already recovered $43 million (3%)
no matter how you look at it... 1% is undervalued af and gah is just pandering bc he's prob from north korea and lives in a shoe box
6 figures?? hahahahahahhahhahhahaha
some internet person named gah is so confident he's right he's willing to bet almost $30,000 of this mother's credit card to win not just $4... but possibly $5!! what a legend
$44m recovered so far accordding to the block $655 million to go :)
ah right i forgot recovered tokens and usd are not correlated in anyway, my bad!
they will get 50% back.. [link removed] plus, wanna actually get away with stealing 1.4b? return it on grounds to keep 8% if you reveal how the hack was done and can be patched. walk away free
read the tweet. NK could get political pressure as well.
Interpol already involved. pressure coming.
obviously someone wasn't listening to the bybit ceo twitter space an hour ago. I will buy more, Gahfuckyourself.
not angry at all my guy, esp betting against someone who stands to make $45 on a $20k bet. seriously, wtf? boring loser.
Those North Korean rockets are expensive man!
let’s imagine you’re the ByBit hackers you stole $1.46 BILLION now what the actual fuck do you do almost every transaction will be traced every KYC exchange will report you
you understand not everything happens in KYC exchanges right? A black market exists.
I'm not giving it back guys
it's ben zhou you fkn idiot
[link removed]
now 560m of usdt had transferred to buy back eth i suppose.
doesn't that look like a second hack?
I associate this kind of hacks with regime associated groups (but correct me if I'm wrong) and I would expect them to also have a plan to get away with it
Help oh help he won't send back the funds
